I am planning to have a new service for audio enthusiasts, which is to measure the frequency response of your car audio system. Usually when we are adjusting the sound in the car, we tend to rely on our own ear and subjectively adjust it to our own preference. But our ears aren’t very accurate instruments when measuring the actual decibel and frequency. What we are very good at though is to tell the difference between two sound. By measuring the frequency response in the car, we can use it to adjust the bass, treble, and mid range very accurately to achieve the most linear response possible, thus achieve a more realistic sound quality.
From what I have found, very few shops in Vancouver have this kind of service available because a real time analyzer is very expensive (like $3000). However, with the help of computer software, and a precision microphone, I am able to achieve the same result at a much lower cost.
The whole set up and measuring will take about one hour of work. I will measure and adjust the settings in your car and then print out a copy of the graph for your reference. I would like to make this service as affordable as possible. So I would start out by charging $30 for it. Give me a call if you would like to have this service.
